De overheid start met een proefproject waarbij apothekers op voorschrift van de huisarts de begeleiding op zich nemen. Want in ons land gaan er veel slaappillen over de toonbank: 400 miljoen per jaar om precies te zijn. "Maar slaap zit niet in een doosje", benadrukt slaapexpert Inge Declercq. Wat helpt dan wel?(...) Volgens Declercq zorgen klassieke benzodiazepines ook niet voor dezelfde herstellende slaap en ben je er bovendien op twee weken aan verslaafd. Ze kunnen voor haar dan ook enkel op zeer korte termijn. "Als mensen al twee weken écht geen oog meer dichtgedaan hebben of bijvoorbeeld in een acute rouwperiode zitten.
